Installing Your CopperSmith Lantern: These generic Lantern illustrations are to show the back of the lanterns and the mounting hardware on the standard Coppersmith Lanterns.  This may differ from some of the newer lanterns  The actual distance from the center of the mounting plate to the gas line are available for wall mounts on each product detail page.  Please contact us for other drawings or visit www.thecoppersmith.net for more information.

Several things to be aware of when installing or roughing in for your CopperSmith Gas and Electric Lanterns:

1.  For Wall Mount gas lanterns, the gas line will come directly into a 1/4" 90 degree fitting on the bottom of the lantern,  as shown in the illustrations above, directly from the wall.  Your Plumber will make the transition from his supply line to 1/4" and attache a 1/4" copper gas line tubing.

2.  Pier and Post Mount lanterns will have a 1/4" valve fitting that comes straight from the bottom of the lantern to connect to the supply line located inside the post or pier.  Any transitions are made by the Plumber.

3.  Yoke Mount lanterns will have a 1/4" gas line fitting at the side of the lantern.  The plumber will run 1/4" copper from the ceiling down the downrod and secure it to the inside surface of the yoke then to the 1/4" flare gas fitting.

4.  Gas lines do not attach behind the mounting plate.  Please use the side view drawings on our web site or The CopperSmith's web site to rough on the gas line for a smooth, neat connection.

5.  For Electric lanterns and lanterns with Igniters,  the wiring will come up through a black line carrier and attach behind the wall plate inside a junction box supplied by others.  See the illustration above.  All E-Lyte Igniters require 120v line and switch.  Standard electric lanterns have 1, 2 or 3 candelabra E-12 Sockets.  Medium base and chimney are offered as an option.

6.  Most mounting plates are 6" W x 5" H x 1" deep.  Biltmore Wall Platers are larger and some of the newer models in The CopperSmith line have a different mounting plate.  Please see the individual side view drawings.

7.  Flush Mount lanterns have a hole in the back and that is used to mount the lantern using the hardware provided.  Basic strap and nipple as shown in the illustrations above.

8.  Flush Mount lanterns are not recommended for heat sensative or combustible surfaces.  If mounting to Hardi/cement board, you should provide a heat shield over the sheathing behind the cement siding.  The siding alone may not provide    sufficient protection to the combustible sheathing under it.
